Microsoft To Try its Luck (Again) in the Mobile Arena

Like someone had quoted earlier, Microsoft is not where it thought it would be and its attempts in the mobile arena has been really lame. Smart phones are the fastest selling product in the mobile market and has shown a significant increase in sales comparing to last year. Symbian OS based phones rule the market with an approximately 50% while Microsoft’s Windows Mobile trails back with a 9%. But with the launch of its new mobile phone software, Microsoft is hoping to make a fortune in the smart phones market.
Microsoft has no idea as to how many mobiles would feature the new Windows Mobile version 6.5 but official sources said that they had several operators and smart phone manufacturers signed on for this. Among the mobile operators that have signed in are AT&T, Verizon,Orange,TMobile, SK Telecom and DoCoMo while the handset makers that were signed in are Acer,Toshiba, HTC, Sony Ericsson, LG and Samsung. This new software is the only hope for Microsoft to revive its glory in the mobile arena!

Macs and OS X are Cheaper than PCs Just Look at the Family Pack

The idea of a family pack which allows your operating system to be installed on multiple computers in your home was first promoted by Apple with the OS X Family Pack. It has now been confirmed that Microsoft is copying Apple (again) and releasing a Family Pack for the upcoming Windows 7.
Earlier this month keen blogger Kristan Kenney was poking around in a recently leaked build of Windows 7 Home Premium and ran across the term “Qualified Family Pack User” in the Microsoft Software License Terms. This started a rush of blogging about if Microsoft will release a Family Pack for Windows 7.
Well, it has now been confirmed. Brandon LeBlanc of Microsof has confirmed the rumours in the Windows 7 Team Blog.
Windows Home Server gets ready for Windows 7
With the October 22nd launch date for Windows 7 barely three months away, Microsoft is preparing other members of the Windows family to play well with the new OS.
This weekend saw a public Beta of the free Power Pack 3 update for Windows Home Server. PP3 supports silent backup and recovery for Windows 7 system, compared to the current WHS behaviour of backing up a Windows 7 PC but also showing a misleading notification by the host PC’s Action Centre which claims there’s no backup in place.
Windows 7’s aggregated storage of user files into virtual folders known as Libraries is also recognised by PP3 with the shared Music, Photos and Videos folders on the home server visible as part of the network’s Library set. Users can add other server-resident folders to personal or shared libraries.
