If you live outside the US and love listening to online radio, you might remember Pandora, probably the greatest free online service where you can listen and tune your music to your taste. Well, as Pandora is now only streaming to US-based listeners, what are people outside to do? Head to globalPandora, where you can listen to it without a problem (at least for a while, because we’re certain the site will be *nicely* asked to cease, although now that it’s proved possible, similar ones will pop-up soon).
We have tested …

Got an e-mail in my inbox this morning from Pandora with the thing all UK-based users of this service have feared: Pandora will stop streaming to the UK as of January 15th. They have been forced to isolate everyone except the UK for a while, in hopes they might still be able to work out a deal. I guess it did not work out.
Oh well, there’s always Last.fm or HotSpot Shield. Yeah, you read me right! While it’s been intended as a protection over your wireless connection, HotSpot creates “a …

One of my clients’ Linux server got hacked somehow recently and after discovering the hacker’s files on the server I proceeded to re-securing the system and removing all traces, files, programs of that user. While doing this I stumbled upon this nice article on how to remove a user and lock down all files and access for that user on your system. Maybe it’s a former company employee or like in my case, a hacker, you can take these steps to make sure that user cannot log in again… after …

When you have to start a new web project from scratch and you get absolutely no indication from the client as to what colors he/she would like on their site, or if they have just one base color to start with, where do you turn to? Color scheme generators? No? Sure?
Anyway, here’s a short list of my favorite color tools for the web:
My main and favorite one: ColorMatch Redux, is a very simple web-based color theme generator. Just paste a hex color value in the “Hex” field and click “Use …

In the latest release (Beta version 4.1.7076.4458) of Google-earth there is a fine add-on for those who like virtualisation: the Flightsimulator. If you have dedicated hardware, like Joystick, Steering-wheel, Flightyoke, etc. you will enjoy a better experience.
Just it the special keyboard shortcut: CTRL-ALT-A (Command+Option+A on the Mac) and you get a requestor allowing you to choose from two types of aircraft – an F-16 or a SR-22, and choose from one of several airports.
If you want to check this out you should get the newest version here.

That “Bong” is nice to hear if you first boot up a Mac. After several times it might happen you wish it wasn’t there, for some people after the first time. Get rid of it! Use StartupSoundPrefPane, a nice piece of software that comes under the FREEWARE licence and is currently at version 1.0.4. System requirements are Mac with PowerPC processors and Mac OS X 10.2 or later. There is though a beta version tested successfully on an Intel based Mac.
You can download the package here.
