Charles Ying over at satine.org has put together an impressive demo using Safari’s forthcoming CSS 3D transform features. Below is the YouTube video of the demo.
The demo, titled Snow Stack, displays a wall of photos in three dimensions and allows you to navigate across the wall using your arrow keys. The wall of photos seems to go on into infinity while it dynamically loads the photos from Flickr as you travel across it.

Three months after the release of version 0.9.9, the VLC developers have announced the release of version 1.0.0 of their popular VLC Media Player, code-named Goldeneye. VLC is a free open source cross-platform multimedia player for various audio and video formats. Version 1.0.0 of VLC is a major release and, in addition to numerous bug fixes, includes several new features, new formats and new codecs.

The developers of the open source office suite for Mac OS X, NeoOffice, have announced that, due to very low donation levels this year, they will be forced to make severe cutbacks to the services provided for users.
As they put it, “we must significantly reduce our costs to match the steep decline in donations from our users.”

VirtualBox 3.0 has been released by Sun. This major update introduces Symmetrical Multiprocessing (SMP) in virtual machines as well improved 3D support.

Today Apple released an updated range of iMacs, Mac Minis and Mac Pros. Since I am a Mac Mini user (and so are several of my friends) I am going to take a deeper look at the new Mac Mini.
The Mac Mini line was last refreshed in 2007 and came in two models the 1.83Ghz and the 2.0Ghz model.
