Second Worm Hits iPhones

After the first worm attack in iPhones earlier this month, engineers at security company F-Secure have unearthed what they claim to be a harmful worm that affects iPhone users. The earlier worm was considered harmless as it just replaced wallpapers of users with the one of a popstar. The new virus was mainly targeted at people in the Netherlands who used the online banking facility of the Dutch bank, ING. The worm extracts sensitive banking information from people by taking them to a bank lookalike site.
The worm is also known to mainly attack jail-broken iPhones and ones that are installed with the Secure shell installed. Users who hadn’t changed the SSH’s default password were the ones at risk as the attackers could control the phone remotely. Though the worm remains localized in Netherlands for now, possibilities of the spread of the worm to other countries also have been ruled out.
