First Human Olympics, Now Humanoid Olympics!

Humanoid OlympicsWith the increased number of humanoid robots bring produced, China is all set to organize a robotic Olympics in 2010. The Olympics will feature only humanoid robots, i.e. Robots that resemble humans and possess two arms and legs. Entry of humanoid robots with wheels is not allowed in the Olympics. The event which is scheduled to be organized in the city of Harbin will see robots participating in 16 different events. The Olympics will also include events such as athletics and cleaning with which humanoid robots are already familiar with.

The organizers have not set any dates for the event and commented that Harbin was chosen as the venue for the event mainly due to the Harbin Institute of Technology which has team of soccer playing robots. With a number of events aimed at robots, like RoboGames which will be organized in California in April 2010 and the Robo World cup, the Harbin Robo Olympics is definite to have lots of competition.
