9 November 2009 No Comment

With a large number of online games popping up, the risk or getting attacked by a hacker has all the more increased. Players of online games are nowadays the target for most of the virus makers and cyber criminals and a number of harmful programs are in circulation throughout the internet. Games such as Rainbow Island, Legend of Mir and World of Warcraft are the most popular ones to have malicious programs specifically written to steal the login credentials and other details of the players.

Microsoft has identified the particular class of malicious programs as Tatrefs and said Tatref attacks are increasing and figures from the last six months show a staggering 5 million Tatref attacks. Head of security at Microsoft, Cliff Evans was of the opinion that games were the most attacked and there was also an increased usage of stolen credit cards as there was no law enforcement or any such things in games.
