First it was exploding music players, now its is exploding mobile phones! Apple has been in the news recently not only for their Snow Leopard release but also for their iPhones that have been exploding or cracking. A number of such cases were reported this month in Europe. Earlier this month, several customers in the US and the UK had reported of exploding music players and Apple hadn’t done much about it.
This new issue of exploding iPhones all over Europe has sparked a debate among consumer support groups that have started questioning the safety of these devices. An investigation by the European Union is on and meanwhile Apple said that it was aware of these problems and were waiting for customers to return their faulty mobile phones. According to them, the lithium ion batteries that comes with these phones is the source of the problem. There has also been reports of people getting injured by the glass shards from the iPhone’s display that cracked up.
