No show for Google Phone but Android turns up instead

7 November 2007 3 Comments

This week Google have ended months of rumour about a possible Google mobile phone dubbed the gPhone but official not releasing the gPhone but instead releasing Android.

Android is an open platform for mobile devices. It includes an operating system, user-interface and applications. It has been developed in cooperation with the Open Handset Alliance (which consists of more than 30 technology and mobile leaders including Motorola).

For developers there will be an SDK available in a week or so. But mobile users, will have to wait a little longer, but some Open Handset Alliance are targeting the second half of 2008 to ship phones based on the Android platform.
