Steve Jobs Writes Apology Letter, Offers 100$ Credit

7 September 2007 One Comment

After yesterday’s new products announced by Apple (such as the new iPods) and practically upsetting every current iPhone owner with the price cut after only two months being on the market, Steve Jobs wrote an open letter today to all iPhone owners. Jobs tells them that the technology lane is “bumpy” and if you wait for the next big technology advance or lower price, you will never buy any technology since there’s always something better/cheaper on the horizon. In the conclusion, Jobs offered every iPhone user “who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store“.

I believe that this price cut was caused by more than just the upcoming holiday season, and more because of the not-so-impressive initial adoption. With features found in many other mobile devices, the iPhone might not seem so appealing to many anymore, as the new iPod touch is basically identical (without the phone, of course).
