Litepost is the newest web-based e-mail service to hit the oh, so crowded landscape. What’s new, you ask? Well, the authors claim it is “simple to use”, “uncluttered”, “web 2.0″. Free registration is now open and after signing up for an account, I can say it is downright simple. Litepost does not rely on folders or labels, like other webmail clients do, but rather (and here’s where the web 2.0 concept comes in), “tags“. Outgoing messages are automatically tagged as “sent”. You can add your own tags and rate messages, or select two or more messages and “merge” them in a conversation, and also use different themes
.
I could not see anywhere how much “space” my account has, but I guess this might not be one of the features to show off at this moment… or maybe it’s part of the “uncluttered” interface.
Apart from being free, the LiteMail webmail server software is open-source, and you can download it and install it on your own server, for domain and independent hosting.
