10 Commandments For New sidux Users

20 August 2007 One Comment

You might have read about my favorite Linux based OS in one of my previous posts and even might consider giving it a try. If you are though new or quite new to Linux, there is a list of things you should consider and embrace as a philosophy. It has been around for a while in different forms and flavors but this one is tailored to fit the specifics of sidux.

1. Thou shalt not log in as root.
Use “su” or “sux -” for administrative tasks.

2. Thou shalt NOT use a package manager.
Apt is your best friend. This is one of the main strengths of sidux (debian sid).

3. Thou shalt be a part of the community.
Freely give what you have received for free. Offer help and advice whenever you can.
